Issues

A COMMON CAUSE AND PURPOSE FOR ALL.

North Shelby County is our home and we must work together to ensure an optimal quality of life for all residents of District 43.

The time is now to focus on issues in which we have commonality and not those that further distract, deceive and divide us. The time is now to make Alabama a destination and a powerhouse on the national and global stage.

KILL THE GROCERY TAX.

For years, our legislature has sought to remove the state tax on groceries. In a time of high inflation, we must use every option at our disposal to make something essential for our survival more affordable. The time is now to accomplish this once and for all and provide needed relief for all Alabamians.

SUPPORT OUR SCHOOLS.

We must strengthen our state’s public schools and support students and teachers by providing them with the tools they need to be competitive nationally and globally. We must protect the Education Trust Fund and ensure we prioritize its revenue toward existing successful educational initiatives and invest in innovation to set our students up for success.

EXPAND MEDICAID.

In my religious tradition, I was taught that we are called to care for the sick. Our legislature has willfully chosen to ignore that call for almost a decade, when federal dollars are available to expand Medicaid to our most vulnerable citizens. Choosing to expand Medicaid will provide access to care for those who need it and provide a helping hand to our regional hospitals as they fight to keep their doors open.
